Untangle a messy folder
Let AI suggest subfolders, spot notes filed in the wrong place and find duplicates to merge. You approve every move.
Untangle reads a messy folder and suggests where each note should go. Nothing moves until you apply.
- Open the menu of the folder you want to tidy and choose “Untangle folder”.
- Wait while it reads. Big folders can take a minute.
- Review the suggestions: turn off what you do not want, rename folders or change where a note goes.
- Tap “Apply”.
What it can suggest
- New folders: related notes grouped into a named subfolder, or moved into one you already have.
- Might belong elsewhere: a note that fits another folder better, or a new folder of its own.
- Possible duplicates: notes that say the same thing. They start off; turn one on to merge them. The originals go to Trash.
Changed your mind?
Tap “Undo” right after applying. It puts every note back, removes the new folders and restores merged notes.
Good to know
- Works on any folder and Uncategorized, not Trash. It needs at least 4 notes.
- Only notes directly in the folder are read, not its subfolders.
- One run is one Thought; big folders cost more. See Thoughts and Ink Drops.
